Healthy Streams

An information report gives readers information on chosen a topic by telling them with facts. An information report is written to provide facts about anything really. It can be an individual object or a group of objects or things.

Mine is about Healthy Streams:
‘Homai te waiora ki ahau’. This Maori proverb says ‘Give me the water of life. Rivers are the life blood of our land. From our native forests,wild animals,farms and homes. It is important to look after our streams and rivers. New Zealand is known for our clean green image but 80% of our rivers are not living up to our name. ATN is about to find out the healthiness of one of the streams in Otaki. We have a water kit we are going to use. I’m going to take you on the adventure and tell you all about it!

Science Fiction Character

My story:

Hi my name is Barry this is the story of the time when cucumbers were getting defeated and some of my life so… here it goes.

Where are we going?  I wondered in my head.  I had been born only a couple months ago. My parents had given me a potion that my Mad Scientist cucumber brother had made. Well from what I can remember. It made me be able to take care of myself at a very very very young age.It made me speak, walk and many other things. I was transported to the land of cucumbers.  I was only taken there a couple months ago. It was amazing.

Well now I'm 1 years old and I actually know what I look like. I've grown a tiny brown man bun at the back of my head. I've got red eyes but don't worry I'm not evil.  I know I'm a cucumber and all cucumbers are green but I'm a yellow cucumber. A little bit more about me as my favourite food is mashed cucumbers, I know that sounds sad I'm eating my humanity but trust me it's good. My favourite sport is cucumber soccer, basically you play soccer and one cucumber volunteers to be the soccer ball they get hurt but they're fine. my favourite instrument is the piano but I don't know why??

Ok I know this is the part you've all been waiting for, the story of when the cucumbers were getting defeated!

One year ago...
The land of the cucumber was the best it had ever been. All the cucumbers were happy. UNTIL-  Barry's Mad scientist brother turned evil! His name was Arthur. Arthur had acted like he was giving everyone a nice drink. Well what all the cucumbers thought. The next day half of  the cucumbers were evil and some even dead. Barry had to do something quick. The first thing he tried was giving after a pep talk but that made it even worse. After a while Barry figured out Arthur was using a control pad and putting the potions that he made to put into the engine. Barry just needed to break it. Barry waited until Arthur was asleep and snuck into his apartment. Barry smashed the control pad and ran back home.The next morning the cucumbers were all good like nothing happened.  but it wasn't from Barry smashing the control pad. Arthur felt bad since someone had smashed the control pad. He made a new potion and turned the cucumbers back to normal.

Arthur said sorry and gave everyone a free potion from his shop.

Barry saved the day once again!

The end

Writing

Tomorrow I have to wake up at 12.30am and leave at one in the morning! The reason is because my Nana Karen is moving back to her hometown Mata-Mata. Me and my dad are helping her move so we have to pack her stuff up tonight. My Nana is driving there today so when we get there tomorrow we can unpack and get her house ready. We will be staying in Mata-Mata but I don’t know where yet.

Saturday or Sunday I get to see my great nana and my cousins. After that I might go see my cousins from Auckland. I’m really excited for the ride. After all of that me and my dad will drive home.

I’m really really excited!!

As I sat down at my table, I waited for something to happen..

Charlie wrapped the blindfold around. As you can probably tell I was partnered with Charlie. He wrapped the blindfold around my eyes and nose, blinding me from the light. This was just before lunch in class. Charlie walked away and got something. My brain was confused. What is he getting? This was for our writing task. To describe an experience. That’s why you're reading this and that’s why I'm writing this.

I heard bags popping. Sounded like a food bag, but what food could be? My mind twisted. At the time I could only see pitch black. Charlie told me the thing was right in front of me. I could smell salt “mmm yummy”. I placed my hands on my desk and felt around. Finally my hands had found what seemed to be a small packet of something. I grabbed something and pulled it out. It was something greasy, oval and hard. I put it into my mouth “crunch”. I thought to myself what could this be? Ahh! It’s ready salted chips and I even guessed the brand it was bluebird. Bits got stuck in my teeth.

This was a really fun activity to do. I hope we do something like this again. Maybe you could do this with someone?
