On the 25th of August me and the Waitohu School Rippa team went down to wellington for the New Zealand world cup. Previously we had won the Horowhenua Kapiti tournament. So we qualified to the Wellington one. Sunday we got to school got all our stuff ready and went down and chilled at the X backpackers hotel. For dinner we had fish bites and shoe string fries. For desert we had blueberry cheesecake. Then went back to X backpackers on the bus. It was about 7:30 and we were trying to get to sleep but through the night people were knocking and running from our doors so we couldn't get to sleep. (we were suppose to play 8 games but played 7 and won 5 out of 7)
Day 2:
The next day we got ready at about 6:30 in the morning did our hair and got our gear on ready for the tournament. We walked around the block and got warmed up. We went to the warf and saw people singing and dancing. As soon as we got back we had breakfast. Weetbix,Toast and Up&go's. After breakfast we loaded on to the bus and travelled to Wake field park were we were playing. Our first game was against Te Mata school representing Uruguay we lost to them by 2 points but we played our best the next couple of games we won.The night we came back we walked to wellington college for dinner. For dinner we had roast ham, roast pork and heaps of veges better than last night. Then for desert we had mini meringues with fruit syrup. A bowl of fruit and whip cream. After dinner and dessert we asked anyone who new the Git up to come and do it with us. It was so fun. We did the Git up dance with Te Mata School earlier. Then we went on a bus back to the X backpackers. We got ready for bed and got to sleep at about 8:30 way better than last night.
The last & Final day:
The last day we woke up and got ready. After that we went for a walk around the block. We went round in circles till we got back to the hotel. We had breakfast and waited for the bus to come and pick us up. But some other schools got on the bus we were suppose to go on so the games had to start later and some games had already been played. We had a little bit of warm up time. Our first game was versing Samoa we won to them by 4 or 5 points. Our next game is versing Japan, Japan had never been beaten but we beat them by one try. That was the game I got my first try! I was pretty happy with my self. Then we versed Italy we won by five points. Then we found out we didn't get in to any of the quarters, semis or finals which was pretty devastating because we had high hopes. But we felt very proud of ourselves. The finals was Fiji - Auckland and Russia- Manga-papa school. Fiji won the game. Then it was prize giving- Fiji got the cup. Russia got silver medals and South Africa got third place medals. We did our best and hope other kids qualify like us next year!
